Wright-K Technology is a maker of custom machines and welding technologies based in Saginaw, Michigan. Founded in 1982 as Miles Machinery, We are nationally and internationally known as a premium supplier to industries such as automotive, aerospace, commercial and household products.
Our company is housed in 62,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 17,000 square feet of engineering and administrative space. We have an extensive background in controls systems and architecture as well as data acquisition systems. Wright-K designs its systems using 3D modeling and thus employs best practices and innovations that benefit our customers.
Acquiring Technology and Talent
Newcor Bay City was purchased in 2008, bringing welding machines, parts and service, engineering and new technology activities. In addition, the two companies merged their business practices and corporate culture under the Wright-K Technology brand.
Arplas and Wright-K formed a partnership in 2019 to bring capabilities for barrel welding and other welding technology offerings to our valued customers.
Our company participates in an apprenticeship program by partnering with area universities and trade school programs. Students receive valuable on-the-job training and the company gains access to top talent and skilled resources.

John P Sivey
President and CEO
John Sivey is an expert in custom machine building and welding technology. John is results-focused and driven by customer relationships and solving manufacturing problems.
He leads the organization’s design, engineering, and testing efforts with a singular vision of quality. Under his 3+ decades of leadership, Wright-K has helped organizations all over the globe build and implement new manufacturing technologies. John is determined to provide customers with solutions that improve processes and show an immediate return on investment. He is a U.S. Army veteran and has invested his time and energy in organizations such as the Boy Scouts, the advisory board of Delta College, and many other community mentoring opportunities. John is a licensed Journeyman.
Board of Directors Chairperson
Constance Kostrzewa has over 35 years of operational experience in custom machine manufacturing for various industries.
As a Certified Woman-Owned Business, Connie’s role encompasses operational responsibilities and senior management leadership including initiatives for business strategy, acquisitions, and integration as well as financial management, Human Resources, and community involvement. She is passionately committed to the continuing education of employees and interns. Connie received a BS from Eastern Michigan University and an MA from Michigan State University.
Chris Soule is a 20+ year veteran of welding and manufacturing industries with extensive experience in engineering and management.
He has led projects for new equipment specification, manufacturing process design, and quality and performance measurement. Chris is a true leader at initiating large-scale business transformation initiatives and change management including ERP systems. He manages the day-to-day plant operations and builds solutions to help all levels of the organization succeed. He holds an AS and BS in Welding Engineering Technology from Ferris State University, and an MS in Engineering Management from University of Detroit Mercy. He is certified in CAD through ITT Technical Institute.
Jim Nicoson has 37 years of experience in designing, building, and servicing custom machines for the automotive, appliance, and aerospace industries.
His career progressed with increasing responsibilities in engineering, manufacturing practices, and quality balanced with various leadership roles. Prior to joining Wright-K, Jim served in the capacity of President and General Manager of Newcor Bay City, as well as VP of Operations, Chief Mechanical Engineer, project engineer and design engineer during his 22 year tenure. He holds a BS in Mechanical Technology from Indiana State University and has taken MBA courses from Saginaw Valley State University.
Christy Coombe has various responsibilities in accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting.
Prior to joining Wright-K, Christy worked at Rehmann honing her skills in financial auditing and process improvement. She is involved in daily operations including customer service, accounts payable and receivable, procurement, and bookkeeping. She holds a BA in business and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Brandon Donaghy brings 18 years of experience in managing the delivery of Information Technology projects.
He is skilled at solutions architecture and software development. Brandon’s responsibilities include maintaining the corporate technology backbone and data communication infrastructure. He leads Wright-K’s assessment, integration, maintenance and expansion of hardware and software for the company’s growing technological innovations. He is a go-to problem solver having implemented our ERP system and office automation, engineering, and production applications. Brandon holds numerous certifications from Microsoft, Novell, and Cisco.
Bob Van Otteren
Sr. Welding Engineer
Bob Van Otteren has over 40 years of experience in welding equipment development, machine parts fabrication, power supplies, transformers and weld controls.
Bob spent 29 years at Newcor where he was responsible for all facets of new equipment builds and testing, design specs and spare parts fabrication. Customer relations and onsite consultation are one of Bob’s strengths. Bob has U.S. patents for Projection Welding of an aluminum sheet, Direct Resistance Heating Process and Apparatus, Hot Planishing Apparatus, and Process for welds and Low Inertia Bearing for Resistance Seam Welding Wheel
As a member of and regular contributor to the American Welding Society for more than 30 years, Bob has taught Resistance Welding to numerous mechanical and electrical engineers. He is highly respected and sought out for consulting. Bob attended Purdue University for Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Inside Sales Manager
Jeremie Bradburn is a seasoned production and project manager.
With skills on both the CNC machine operations and the sales and service sides of the business, Jeremie brings a wealth of diverse knowledge and experience. He manages our machine lines and schedules labor loads, produces customer quotes, and processes orders. Ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness, Jeremie continues to increase our performance, productivity, and throughput.
Tom Greenwood is a veteran at tool making, mold design and builds, inspection, and engineering liaison.
Tom worked at Newcor for more than 18 years and has been with Wright-K for 12 years and counting. He puts his knowledge of process engineering, casting and forging, and raw material properties to work everyday. Customers rely on his expertise when looking for service parts and maintenance procedures that keep their plants up and running. Tom has an Associates Degree in Applied Science and nearly 100 credit hours in engineering and tool making. He is a Journeyman Tool Maker, Class A Machinist, and Journeyman Machinist.
Gary J Socia
Outside Sales Representative
Gary joined us in the 4th quarter of 2019 but was a part of our Team in 1988-89.
He was recruited back to join the Sales & Marketing Team at Wright-K. He is a valuable asset to us by bringing his positive attitude and sales mentality to the table. He has experience working for Miller Mold Company, RWC Inc., Saginaw Machine Systems, and R&R Engineering. Gary has taken numerous Engineering and Math classes that he puts to use while being a Senior Mechanical Engineering Project Engineer as well as a Mechanical Engineering Manager. Along with 45 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, he has an extensive resume of volunteer and community work that contributes to his dedicated work ethic such as Big Brother’s “Big for a Day”, an Usher for Holy Trinity as well as their President and Board Member, a Little League Player Agent, Secretary and Umpire, and many other positions showing Gary’s strong involvement in his community.
Hannah Conley joined Wright-K in 2018 and has quickly become indispensable.
She brings a marketing mentality, organizational skills, and an aptitude for software applications and office automation. Hannah works closely with the management team to implement process improvements and company-wide communication initiatives. She supports customer service, accounting, internal operations, and production – often producing documents and reports before we know we need them. Hannah is an asset because of her positive attitude, willingness to learn new technology, and quick grasp of the manufacturing environment.
Jerry Vermeesch is a sought-after expert in welding, engineering, and machine shop practices.
He worked for Wright-K Technology for 14 years and Newcor Bay City for 32. Today, as an independent voice of the industry, Jerry contributes industrial engineering experience, shop control knowledge, and shop expediting skills both in leadership and mentoring roles with Wright-K. He excels at developing customer loyalty as well as supporting parts and sales departments. He is a certified OSHA Safety and Supervision Training, Industrial Engineer, Welder and attended classes at the University of Michigan School of Business.
Ray started at Wright-K 2 years ago, and he works in Shipping & Receiving.
He is responsible for shipping finished goods. His daily activities also include receiving all incoming shipment, returns, and identifying and tagging returned materials. Ray impacts operational excellence through the coordination of truck schedules for product shipments and through positive interaction with vendors . He is a multifaceted resource due to his work in the manufacturing environment and his knowledge of information technology.
Colin Hubbard leverages over 25 years of Mechanical Engineering and 3-D drafting experience to focus on manufacturing techniques for our spare parts and service department.
He worked for Wright-K Technology back in the 1990s and then pursued opportunities with Dow Chemical, Nexteer Automotive and Ally Equipment Solutions. Colin returned to Wright-K in 2018 bringing well-seasoned experience in customer product monitoring, computer drafting, and mechanical engineering design. Colin holds an Associates in Business Administration and is certified in Solidworks, FMEA and Internal Quality Auditing, and Autocad.
Paul Abenth manages the Service Department at Wright-K.
He brings practical experience and insights that link service to customer satisfaction. Using his knowledge as a machine build electrician, Paul organizes the service personnel and seeks process design, improvement, and implementation in the scheduling of service department work. He brings a wealth of experience from stints at B&K Corporation, TRW, Nexteer, and Ford Motor Company. Paul attended Saginaw Valley State University and has extensive experience in electrical maintenance.
Sr. Mechanical Designer
Leo Kennedy brings a broad foundation of experience in machine engineering and design.
He has been an integral part of the Wright-K/ Newcor team for 42 years. Leo ‘s extensive work with machine design and troubleshooting make him a valuable asset to the company. He is responsible for CAD instruction, equipment and programs setup and operation, and is fluent in various office automation software. Leo attended classes in Mechanical Design Technology at Delta College and Mechanical Drafting at Bailey Technical School in Missouri.
Spare Parts Leader
Steve Rittmaier uses his technical abilities and leadership skills to manage the spare parts department.
He uses the 14 years of experience In CNC machine operations, plant operations, robotics, and technical maintenance every day at Wright-K. Steve joined our organization 4 years ago and spear-headed process improvements to organize the spare parts area and streamline customer service. He hold a diploma in Automotive Technology from Saginaw Career Complex, and an Associates of Science Degree in Record Arts from Full Sail University.
Shop Mechanical Leader
Scott Hammer-Thompson recently joined Wright-K bringing skills and experience in fitting, assembly, fabrication and maintaining mechanical piping system.
He leads projects in the mechanical assembly department. Scott coordinates activities for assembling components and constructing, rebuilding and repairing machines and equipment. He has been a pipe fitter since 2014 and brings a modern approach to integrating components and equipment for peak performance.
Sr. Controls Engineer
Kevin is a highly skilled Controls Designer with over 30 years of expertise in PLC and HMI programming.
He brings extensive experience in needs assessment and controls design. Kevin creates innovative solutions to critical manufacturing needs and strives to exceed customer expectation. He has a proven track record of implementing complex projects and establishing best practices. Kevin holds an Associates Degree in Electronics. Prior to coming to Wright-K, he worked at Control Technology Corp.
Rob Lauka has over 35 years of project management experience at Wright-K and asserts leadership and creativity in completing each project.
He specializes in customer interaction and creates proposals that include precise estimates, schedules, and design and build parameters. Rob’s experience as a design and project engineer coupled with his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology, lend themselves to complex project consulting, deployment and delivery. He is a valued team member for his knowledge and field experience.
Patrick joined the Wright-K team halfway through the 2019 year as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Patrick is planning to obtain his Engineering Management degree with minors in Business Management and Mechanical Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University this fall semester. He is a valuable asset by bringing his previous experiences as a machinist, a CNC programmer, and a manufacturing engineer prior to joining the Wright-K team. He previously completed his Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Delta College. While being in school, he applies what he learns to the workplace and is currently working in the Engineering department to help design and edit prints using his knowledge/skillset in 2D/3D CAD software such as Solidworks, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD.
